Summary

Holds primary responsibility for the safe and efficient use of equipment and chemicals at the location, overseeing the cleaning of the location, kitchen/cafeteria, amenities, corridors, back service areas, ballrooms, and other areas as specified in a clients scope of work. Must follow the company’s internal procedures and communicate clearly and promptly as required.

Qualifications

Technical knowledge of the industry and experience with various heavy-duty janitorial tasks are advantageous but not mandatory, as training will be provided. Skills in buffing, scrubbing, stripping floors, carpet & upholstery cleaning and waxing are also assets but not required. Candidates without machine operation experience must be available for training during the day or night and should have the ability to respond quickly to situations.

  • High dusting
  • Vacuuming
  • Dusting /wiping
  • Safe Handling of cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Cleaning and wiping of mirrors, glass and chrome fixtures
  • Polishing
  • Disposal of Garbage.
  • Washroom cleaning
  • Light mopping and sweeping
  • General janitorial duties

Physical Demands

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk for extended periods of time,carrying heavy equipment or supplies, use hands, fingers, handle, or feel, reach with hands & arms, and hear.  Also occasionally required to kneel, crouch or stoop, may on occasion lift or move up to 12Kgs. Operating machinery and cleaning tools, reaching overhead, climbing ladders or stairs, and performing repetitive motions such as scrubbing and wiping. Walking on wet surfaces may be required.   

Work Environment

Noise level is moderate, Personal Protective equipment must be worn when using cleaning chemicals. Non WHIMS products available. Indoor/Outdoorsetting, such as offices, restrooms, pooldecks, hallways,loading dock , exterior perimeter, garbage rooms and public areas, often involving exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment.
